Dev Log 5 : I don't have a witty title.

Good morning all!

So the last 24 hours was a bit slower progress than usual as I had other stuff to do, was learning how I can use the new features of GB Studio and fell asleep early by accident! Never the less here's todays update!

MUSIC!

So far Bubble Frog has been using tracks from Mr.V's GB Studio Imaginary Game Original Soundtrack and with the addition of Yellow Zone I felt I needed more music. I decided that Mr.V's music had worked so well so far that it would be silly to move away from his style, so I've purchased another music pack of his ready for more levels :D

Yellow Zone

So Yellow Zone is now in full development with 2 levels already made, a new NPC in Mr. Squeeks (intentionally spelt wrong for once), and a new Mechanic, fans!

The fans make Bubble Frog super heavy and drop really quick or blow air up meaning when Bubble Frog jumps he'll be shot up really high. I've added markers to show exactly how far the effect of each fan reaches so the player has a more informed decision when picking what order to do things when trying to 100% the game :)

Steamy Future

So I floated the idea on Threads of maybe porting Bubble Frog to Steam in the future when the games more substantial and got a fairly good reaction so I've begun looking into the potential of a future Steam release. I don't think I'd just 1 to 1 release the game on there but maybe add some more bells and whistles (that version would also be downloadable here for those who've paid of course!) that I can't do with just a web based Gameboy game. Not sure yet though, it's all in the 'wouldn't that be cool?' phase right now and would most definitely mean bringing on someone who's actually able to code to help me build it which would require funds I don't have so would also probably mean a Kickstarter. Who knows though! Let's wait and see! :D

Marketing Is Hard!

I grew up as the quiet kid as I imagine a lot of us creatives did. As a result bigging up my game and promoting it is SUPER counter intuitive. I've been working at building up a presence on Twitter, Threads, and using my small following on IG too but I know there is more I can do. I'm currently thinking of promotional material, not just a new trailer but maybe taking a leaf from Cult of the Lambs book and making some kind of animated stuff involving Bubble Frog to promote the game (hopefully via sharing around social media the "cute frog cartoon" or something).

Remember that word of mouth is SUPER vital to an indie game so if you wanna support Bubble Frog the most powerful thing you can do is share it around :) Thanks!
