01: Music, ROMs, & Combat

Good afternoon all!
Welcome to the Growth's Adventure Dev Logs!
MUSIC
Today I'm gonna show off some news on the musical side of the game. I've teamed up with the awesome thousandgardens.net to provide some music for the game. Till now I've been using the amazing TipTopTomCat's music as placeholders as the dream was to get bespoke music made specifically for Growth's Adventure, so this will be replaced in the next update.
As a sneaky peek at what's coming here's the updated Title Screen with the music by thousandgardens.net
Perfectly fitting little loop for the cute and simple nature of Growth I think!ROMs
As long time followers of my work will know for Bubble Frog I released the beta ROM files for people to enjoy on their emulation system of choice or Gameboy Flash Cart. I'm gonna start doing that again with Growth's Adventure starting with the next version update!
The ROM will have a little info screen at the start simply because the ROM from Bubble Frog ended up getting uploaded to external websites and even sold on bootleg Gameboy Carts so I'd at least like a promo for me to be on those things if people are gonna spread the ROM around! :D
COMBAT
merman1974 highlighted in a comment that the game lacks a way of taking out enemies. This isn't how it'll always be, I'm currently toying with different combat options. Chances are it'll be the traditional "Jump On Head" we all know and love, but first I'm trying to find a way to replicate Wario's dash attack from the Warioland games as I think that would be a fun piece of movement tech alongside an attack. I've tried this in the past with zero luck though so don't get too excited about it! Let's see if I have better luck this time!
I'm also thinking of ways to make clear what enemies cannot be hurt, or parts of an enemy that'll hurt you if you try to hit it. Currently spikes seem like the most obvious option, although if they don't do a good job during play testing I may go the Downwell route and add a splash of Red to the game to show danger!
END
That's all for today, I'm gonna get back to beavering away on the level design and coming up with fun new enemies! Hope you enjoy the game and thanks to everyone who's given it a try so far!
